Safety, community guidelines and grievances

Friday Matrimony is built for people looking for a life partner. These guidelines help keep every member and family safe.

Safety tips

• Never send money. Do not send money, gifts, loans or “customs”, visa or medical fees to anyone you meet here, however genuine they seem. Anyone who asks for money is breaking our rules: please report them.
• Keep bank details and OTPs private. Our team will never ask for your password, OTP or bank details.
• Verify before you commit. Talk on a video call, involve your family, and check education, job, marital status and family details independently. The blue tick confirms a masked ID only.
• Meet safely. Meet for the first time in a public place, tell your family where you are going, and arrange your own travel.
• Take your time. Be careful with people who rush you, avoid video calls, live “abroad” with stories that keep changing, or ask you to move to another app quickly.
• Protect your privacy. Share your phone number, address and workplace only when you are comfortable. Use photo privacy and incognito mode if you want.

Community guidelines

• Be genuine: one real profile per person, with true details and recent photos.
• Be respectful in every message, even when you decline. No abusive, sexual, hateful or threatening content.
• No dowry demands. Asking for or offering dowry is a crime under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
• No commercial use: no marriage bureaus, agents, advertising or selling.
• Respect a no. Do not contact someone again after they decline or block you.

How we keep the community safe

• Every new profile and photo is reviewed before it goes live.
• Phone numbers stay hidden until both members accept the interest.
• Members can block and report profiles. Profiles reported by several members are hidden until our team checks them.
• We remove profiles that break these guidelines and may report serious cases to the police.

Report a problem

1. In the app, open the profile, tap the ⋯ menu and choose Report. You can also Block the member.
2. Or use the Help chat in the app, or email visagandigitaledge@gmail.com.

In an emergency, call 112. For online fraud call the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in. Women can also call the Women Helpline 181.

Grievance Officer

As required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, complaints about content or conduct on Friday Matrimony can be sent to:

We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days. Content showing a person in a sexual or intimate way without consent, or impersonating someone, is removed within 24 hours of a valid complaint.
